Igbo Presidency Won’t Solve Nigeria’s Financial Problem – Alex Otti
Former Group Managing Director of Diamond Bank Plc, Alex Otti. And two-time governorship candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) in 2015 and 2019 Abia State.
Dr. Alex Otti, stated that an Igbo man becoming the president of Nigeria would not solve the financial and security problems facing the nation.
As some basic structural problems must be handled first.
The renowned economist mentioned that insecurity will not cease in the country until the high rate of poverty among her citizens is addressed. And it can’t be addressed through Igbo Presidency.
“A situation where 43 per cent of the population I.e 90 million people, live below the poverty line of less than 1.90 dollar per day, almost 1000naira, exposes the country to insecurity of the highest order.”
“If you have followed my politics, you would realise that I do not believe in primordial sentiments. I believe that tribe and religion are basically smokescreens used by politicians to drive personal interests.”
” The change of power from one political party to another will bring a solution to the problem the nation is facing”. He made mention of the two major political party, saying that they have nothing to show for. And a new political party may be worst that the previous ones.
Although he didn’t make mention of any solution to the current crisis the country is facing.
