Home: Sources of Harmful Chemicals in your Home

There are a lot of harmful chemical substances rights about us which we are not even aware of. These substances tend to cause long term chemical effect on people’s health.

We can come in contact with these dangerous chemical substances from the following:

1. Plastic Food Storage
Studies showed that some plastic containers like Tupperware contain Bisphenol-A (BPA) which is responsible for disrupting the hormonal system and phthalates which strengthens the plastic, but harmful to the human system. In 2014, Columbia University Researchers argued that phthalates contained in plastics can lower a child’s IQ if the mother had high amounts in her system during pregnancy. This is even worse where the plastic storage is not microwave or dish washer safe.

2. The Couch
The couch aids relaxation and it’s an essential furniture in our homes. Couch is usually found in every living room which is where we entertain our visitors; watch our favorite TV channels and a lot more.

So, it is possible to spend much time on the couch

3. House Floor
The floors transmit some harmful chemicals to our living space. For instance; the formaldehyde used a glue in the laminate floor is capable of causing respiratory problems. Floors generally are not skin friendly and should be directly avoided.

4. The Mattress
Flame-retardants are loaded in the mattress as demanded by most government regulations in order to reduce the damages usually caused by fire outbreak or the rate of fire outbreak which is actually not caused by the mattresses. But mostly caused by other flammable elements like cigarettes. Flame-retardants are capable of causing some health implications.
